CNVERGE A Three Day Banking Summit
MC at CNVERGE 2025: Connecting History, Opportunity, and Africa’s Future
That’s a wrap.
I had the privilege of serving as Master of Ceremonies for Ghana International Bank’s flagship conference — CNVERGE 2025 — at London’s iconic Dorchester Hotel.
Three days.
Two Central Bank Governors.
Multiple African bank CEOs.
One Lord — The Rt Hon. Lord Boateng.
No pressure 😅
The real challenge?
How do you make commodity trading — and spreadsheets tracking cocoa, timber, cashews, and cobalt — feel alive?
Because let’s be honest… no one wakes up excited about a spreadsheet.
That’s where the role of an MC changes.
For me, it’s not just:
“Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen…”
It’s about:
→ Bringing energy when the room dips
→ Connecting the dots between sessions
→ Turning data into a story people can feel
So across the three days, I built a narrative:
Day 1 — The Past:
Africa was trading, thriving, and building long before colonial interruption.
Day 2 — The Present:
Opportunity is everywhere… but so are the structural challenges.
Day 3 — The Future:
What happens if we finally get this right?
And the numbers told a powerful story:
• Africa holds 30% of the world’s critical minerals
• 60% of uncultivated arable land
• Yet 76.8% of exports are raw
Which means… the value is created elsewhere.
To put it simply:
Bauxite at ~$65/ton → processed aluminium at ~$2,300/ton.
Same resource. Different outcome.
The gap isn’t potential. It’s processing, partnerships, and financing.
The feedback meant a lot — from Lord Boateng, CEO Dean Adansi, and many in the room:
“You kept the energy high, the sessions relevant, and the audience engaged.”
But the real takeaway for me?
The best events don’t just inform — they connect people to a bigger purpose.
And this one did exactly that.
Africans — and friends of Africa — working together to ensure:
African resources → create African jobs → drive African prosperity.
That’s a story worth telling. And building.
